The territory of West Bolton stands out for the important place occupied by nature.
Indeed, natural environments, which cover approximately 89% of the territory, are a central element of the local identity; they are valued by citizens, outdoor enthusiasts, as well as by local wildlife and plant life, but above all, they provide crucial ecosystem services, including contributing to the health of our waterways, preventing erosion, and sequestering and storing carbon.
However, these precious natural environments are threatened throughout the region by their destruction, intensive exploitation, and fragmentation, among other factors.
It is therefore crucial to seize the opportunity to conserve our natural environments by supporting their longevity and vitality, for the benefit of future generations.
For these reasons, the Municipality has undertaken a conservation initiative.
The documents presented here provide a summary of the information and results stemming from this initiative. The current conservation initiative has no regulatory authority. It therefore does not modify the municipal regulations currently in effect. Furthermore, at this stage, the initiative relies primarily on publicly available data.
Citizen involvement has therefore not yet been necessary.
