As we celebrate 150 years of history, we are laying the groundwork today for the Bolton-Ouest of tomorrow. The City Hall expansion project is one of the first milestones in this process.
Since early 2026, the City Hall Committee has been working to assess the Municipality's future needs and plan the modernization of its municipal facilities.
Recently, restricted bids were issued to select an architectural firm and engineering professionals who will assist the Municipality in the initial stages of the project.
The committee is currently reviewing the bids received, and recommendations will be presented to City Council in the coming weeks.
It is important to note that, at this stage, no final decision has been made regarding the project's implementation. The ongoing efforts are primarily aimed at preparing the technical documents and preliminary concepts necessary for evaluating the project, particularly in preparation for submitting a grant application under the PRACIM program.
The Municipality wishes to ensure that the project meets the community's current and future needs, while respecting the rural character of West Bolton, the Municipality's financial capacity, and the priorities established by the municipal council.
As part of the festivities, informational materials will be presented to help residents learn more about the project's history, the municipality's needs, and the project's progress.
A timeline will outline the key milestones achieved to date as well as those to come. An information sheet detailing the needs identified by the Municipality and the funding opportunities available under the PRACIM program will also accompany this timeline.
The plan for the new municipal lot, including the recently acquired portion, will also be presented to help residents better visualize the project's location and context.
These documents will provide a better understanding of the project's progress and the various steps required before a decision can be made regarding the project's implementation. It is important to note that the 150th-anniversary celebrations are not a public information session. They are intended first and foremost as a community-building event to highlight the history of Bolton-Ouest and celebrate this important anniversary with the community.
Over the coming months, additional updates will be shared to keep you informed of developments in this matter. In particular, the Municipality plans to hold a public information session at the start of Phase 2, once the preliminary designs have been completed and the grant application has been submitted. This meeting will provide an opportunity to present to the public the results of this first phase, the designs developed, the estimated costs, and the next steps planned.
We thank you for your interest and participation in this important process for the future of our community.
